Es particularmente interesante porque es una figura que no se encuentra sólo en contextos rurales sino en el contexto urbano y inclusive entre personas supuestamente ‘aculturizadas’. Actúa tanto en los caminos solitarios del campo como en los carros y en taxis y micros de la ciudad. Esta presente hasta en las filas que se hace desde tempranas horas de la noche cuando hay escasez de pan, y aparece en contextos de crisis contemporánea, como Lima y Ayacucho sacudido por los flagelos del terrorismo y la crisis económica [Ansion 1989], y la epidemia del cólera de 1991-1992 en La Paz [Portugal 1993].
