El sisa yuyo es una hortaliza silvestre con la cual se prepara un guiso. Esta comida se consume ritualmente en la ceremonia “Muchuy Waraka” para espantar la hambruna. "...El 2 de febrero espantábamos la hambruna con guiso de sisa yuyo y de quinua, y con manteca, porque no conocíamos el aceite, la mayoría comíamos eso, pero ahora los hijos no quieren comerlo.. El hijo de la Virgen de la Candelaria espanta el hambre con el sisa yuyo, puesto en la waraka que está agarrando [...] en la waraka que agarra el Niño, colocan el sisa yuyo. Las autoridades ancestrales jugaban con la waraka en la puerta de la Iglesia, cantaban y bailaban las músicas tradicionales; desde ese momento se iniciaban los carnavales..."
