O presente trabalho propõe um enfoque na arte e no estilo da cerâmica arqueológica funerária da Amazônia com o objetivo de aprofundar o entendimento sobre as formas de organização social e as dinâmicas pré-coloniais de ocupação humana da região. Utilizando-nos de conceitos da antropologia social e da antropologia da arte sobre estilo e agência, analisamos os objetos rituais funerários enquanto mediadores e transformadores das relações sociais. Uma incursão exploratória na etnologia de rituais funerários, em particular nas implicações do perspectivismo ameríndio sobre as concepções de humanidade, ancestralidade, morte, corpo e alma na Amazônia, somada a um breve panorama da variabilidade estilística das urnas antropomorfas das diferentes tradições e fases cerâmicas arqueológicas, propomos alguns parâmetros comparativos para a correlação entre estilos funerários e formas de reprodução social. Os parâmetros propostos são então verificados para o caso particular de um conjunto de urnas funerárias da fase marajoara. Concluímos que a cerâmica ritual e, em particular a funerária, apresenta um enorme potencial analítico para resolvermos algumas incongruências epistemológicas que tem se apresentado entre a arqueologia e a etnologia da Amazônia, notadamente sobre os diferentes princípios de organização social das sociedades do passado e do presente. // El presente trabajo propone un enfoque en el arte y estilo de la cerámica funeraria arqueológica amazónica con el objetivo de profundizar el conocimiento sobre las formas de organización social y las dinámicas precoloniales de ocupación humana de la región. Utilizando conceptos de estilo y agencia de la antropología social y la antropología del arte, analizamos los objetos rituales funerarios como mediadores y transformadores de las relaciones sociales. Una incursión exploratoria en la etnología de los rituales funerarios, en particular las implicaciones del perspectivismo amerindio sobre las concepciones de humanidad, ascendencia, muerte, cuerpo y alma en el Amazonas, resumida en una breve descripción de la variabilidad estilística de las urnas antropomorfas de diferentes tradiciones y fases. Proponemos algunos parámetros comparativos de correlación entre estilos funerarios y formas de reproducción social; luego se verifican los parámetros propuestos para el caso particular de un conjunto de urnas funerarias de la fase Marajoara. Concluimos que la cerámica ritual y, en particular, la funeraria, presenta un enorme potencial analítico para resolver algunas incongruencias epistemológicas entre la arqueología y la etnología amazónicas, especialmente en los diferentes principios de organización social de las sociedades pasadas y presentes.
